It happens. You upgrade to the latest OS firmware only for something to go wrong. And that’s exactly what’s happened to me.
My beloved music player, Poweramp, doesn’t seem to want to work offline anymore. I parted cash for the Unlocker on the Play Store a few years ago, and the app has worked perfectly for the last 3 years – on 2 different Android devices.
But now that I’ve upgraded to Android 7, every time I go offline, I’m shortly met with an error telling me I don’t have the paid version of PowerAmp.
This is bad news. It means the very app that I purchased from the Play Store, the Unlock Key, no longer wants to work with my phone. It means I can only access the 2 week trial. Do I buy another unlock key from the PowerAmp website, and sideload it into my S7, or part ways with Poweramp altogether?
Well, a bit of both, actually. Thing is, I’d already paid £3.00 for the Unlock Key, and Samsung Music, the desult music app for my S7, does just as good a job. So I’ll still use PowerAmp on my older HTC, but Samsung Music on my newer S7.
After all, what guarantee is there that an Unlock Key direct from PowerAmp, not from the Play Store, will work any differently?
I remember having similar teething problems when I got my HTC Desire Eye. I recall the sound not being great, which is the reason I went for PowerAmp – a music player with a built in equaliser and bass boost that actually worked a treat.
I did start looking into other music apps as alternatives, so I’ll upload my reviews of some of those apps soon.
