Reddit, Galaxy S21 – How-To Guide: switch navigation types via One Hand Operation+

On Reddit, I noticed a query from a fellow Galaxy S21 user who was trying to switch navigation bar types quickly, without having to keep diving deep into the Settings menu.

My solution worked, and the query was solved. But just in case you can’t see it, I’ll leave the question (and my answer) below so you too can benefit from it!

Question from u/Bokchoyk:

What’s the quickest way to switch navigation bar types? This is a fix for sending pictures and videos through Snapchat and Instagram.

My solution:

I think I’ve found a solution, but it takes a bit of fiddling to sort it out. If this isn’t it, at least someone might find it helpful, so I’ll post it anyway:

1. In the Good Lock app, there’s 2 tabs at the bottom of the screen – Unit & Family. In the Family section, download & run One Hand Operation+.

2. Within OHO+, you can enable/disable left or right handles (swipe from the side). At first, it’s simply set as gestures… BUT the swipe gestures can be changed to access a quick settings menu, called Quick Tools.

3. Click on either handle, and under ‘Short swipe,’ change the value of one of the swipes to ‘Quick Tools’ – which is at the bottom of a long list of swipe actions.

(I personally have all 3 swipes – Straight right, Diagonal up, & down – set to Quick Tools.)

4. In that list of swipe actions, next to Quick Tools is a cog ⚙ – click that, and delete as required all toggles you don’t need, as Quick Tools is basically another quick settings menu.

5. Now, ‘Add’ the Show/hide navigation bar toggle – this activates/deactivates the navbar, allowing you to switch between the navbar & gestures.

6. Exit out of the app, and give it a try. Swipe from the left or right – depending on whether you have either the left, right or both ‘handles’ activated – and press the Show/hide toggle (which looks like a phone with 3 squares at the bottom).

It will enable/disable the navbar, and allow you to switch from buttons to gestures, and vice versa.

As I said before, it’s a convoluted method, and takes a bit of fiddling to sort it out, but I guess it’s Samsung taking a feature away with one hand, and giving it back with the other.

u/Bokchoyk’s reply:

Wow, it worked! I had no idea about this, I was already using the short swipes before but didn’t realize they could be edited. Thank you for this in depth guide!

My (final) reply:

Glad I could help. 😊 It’s annoying that Samsung have removed the toggle from Quick Settings, but at least it still exists through Good Lock & One Hand Operation+.

If you’re also suffering with this issue, hopefully you too can benefit from this solution. Here’s the link to my Reddit comment so you can save it to your Saved collection:
