SIM-only deals – thoughts (MNP: Revisited)

While I’ve been looking at newer phones, that’s not to say I don’t like my Galaxy S7 anymore. In fact, it’s still a more-than capable device, and one I’m not ready to part with just yet. Therefore, what if I just get a SIM-only deal?

Most of my research for this blog series was done via this phone, so it’s certainly capable of doing everything that I’ve needed it to do, thus far.

EE initially look quite expensive, but as a loyal customer I’m sure I can get a good deal. Plus, it’s the run up to Christmas, and Black Friday, so I’m pretty sure this is achievable.

I’m currently on a £31 pcm plan, with 6GB data, unlimited calls and texts. For about £20 I could have 10gb if I wanted, or go even lower on the price and still get a whopping amount of data compared to what I’m getting at the moment.

I’ve also looked at GiffGaff, but the fact that they run on o2 doesn’t fill me with optimism. The last time I had a phone on o2, signal coverage was atrocious. I think about the only place I got a signal was in the centre of town – and that was a very weak signal in itself.

Sky Mobile unfortunately also run on o2, so data rollovers won’t be persuading me this time.

Virgin Mobile, a virtual network, rents space from EE, so with them my signal coverage wouldn’t change.

Vodafone, from my past experience, have been fairly okay on signal, but very expensive. I’d be okay with a SIM-only deal with Voda, but not sure I want to leave EE.

Yoy see, while I’ve heard the same comments said about EE, in the 4 years I’ve now been with EE, I’ve never had any problems with them, or with signal coverage. Therefore, why change network and risk losing that coverage?
