I’ve done it. I’ve chosen a phone, and it’s being delivered. But, which one did I go for?
A quick recap: in my last blog post, I cut down my initial 2018/19 shortlist even further, and then analysed each phone until I was left with just 4 phones.

I’d figured that the loss of the 3.5mm port wasn’t justified given the price of the XZ2 Premium and XZ3 compared to the S9 which offered nearly the same specs, but also with a 3.5mm jack. Therefore, I thought I’d try and get a good price on the Galaxy S9.
Knowing that the S9 Plus came with a 2x optical zoom, telephoto lens, it would’ve been nice to have that added functionality on top of the standard S9, so that’s what I went for.
Initially, the cost far outweighed every other aspect, so it was looking likely that the standard S9 would be my best bet. Not that the S9 is a bad phone in any way, but I wanted to see if the more-equipped S9 Plus was affordable to me – given my current budget is around £33 per month on contract.
After much deliberation, I was fully ready to settle for the S9 at a good price and one I can afford, but the temptation of the S9 Plus was too much to handle.
So, I’ve gone for the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, at an affordable price per calendar month, for 24 months.
3.5mm jack, micro SD card slot, 32 bit audio, dual aperture primary camera and telephoto 52mm secondary camera…
What more can I say… the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus is My Next Phone for 2019/2020.

P.S. I typed this blog on my Galaxy S7, my ‘new’ secondary device.
